About Us

The Health Claims Forum is a life insurance industry organisation whose purpose is to improve claims management through the sharing of knowledge and experience within the health claims field.

Membership is open to the claims staff of all life companies with health or disability related products

The Forum usually holds four meetings a year, which normally take place in February, May, September and November.

The Committee

The Health Claims Forum is run by a committee of claims personnel drawn from the industry who provide their time on a voluntary basis. There are at least 4 committee meetings a year.

There are a number of officer roles within the committee which are voted for by the membership on a two year fixed term. The Forum operates to a constitution which governs the membership of the Forum and the Committee.

Sean Grainger - Chairman

Sean has 18 years industry experience, having worked in both underwriting and claims in a direct office and reinsurance environment. Sean is currently a Senior Claims Assessor at SCOR Global Life UK with responsibility for Death, CI and individual IP claims and also has responsibility for Training and Development.

Simon Grant - Vice Chairman

Simon is Claims Manager for RGA UK Services. He has over 15 years experience in all claim types having been a Technical Team Manager at Legal & General prior to joining RGA in October 2008.

 

Jennie Calder Brown - IT Officer

Jennie is Claims Research, Development and Training Manager on the International team at RGA. She has previous claims management and underwriting experience in a direct office and reinsurance environment.

Simon has over 20 years underwriting and claims experience and has worked for 2 direct offices and a reinsurer. Currently he works at Munich RE as the Technical Claims Assessment Manager with responsibility for the assessment of claims across all life and disability product lines.

Stuart started in insurance 10 years ago when he joined Unum.  In November 2009 Stuart moved to Alico as Head of Claims with responsibility for all Income Protection, Life, Critical Illness, Personal Accident, Private Medical and Waiver of Premium claims.

Sarah is a Claims Expert for Swiss Re working in Research and Development. She has over 21 years of insurance industry experience, mainly for a direct office, and was previously a Technical Claims Manager for Individual IP, Life & CI claims

Phillip has worked in the health claims environment for over 14 years. He is currently working in the Technical team at Swiss Re. Phillip's responsibilities include training, product development, and updating and implementing claims processes and philosophy.

Ian has 11 years experience in life and disability claims, in both the direct office and reinsurance environment. He joined Pacific Life Re as 'Senior Life and Disability Claims Underwriter' in 2005, and is responsible for the management of IP, CI and Life claims as well as process and philosophy developement.
